Teasing and bullying – How can words make us feel? Amethyst and Jasper learn how to talk about bullying.
We’re helping young people all around the world build body confidence and self-esteem so they can embrace who they are and reach their full potential. As part of our mission, we want young people everywhere to learn the importance of being kind to themselves and others. So, we’ve teamed up with Cartoon Network’s Steven Universe to create a series of six short animated films to help children build confidence. In Episode 1, characters Amethyst and Jasper think about how words can make us feel as they learn how to talk about bullying.
We’ve partnered with Steven Universe. The cartoon — which follows the magical Crystal Gems, and their half-human, half-Gem “little brother” Steven — tackles topics of identity, inclusivity and body positivity. Each Dove Self-Esteem Project x Steven Universe episode covers important topics that will encourage young people in valuing their personalities, standing up against bullies and building self-esteem. So, if a young person you know is experiencing bullying be sure to start the conversation, discuss why the bully might be behaving in this way, and give your child the encouragement to continue to be their authentic self.
Just be you! It’s up to them to realise they’re being a bully.

Wondering how to deal with bullying? The Dove Self-Esteem Project has developed a range of resources, working with experts from the fields of psychology, health and media, to help guide parents and young people in talking about bullying. As well as helping you understand how your kids are feeling, our materials will help you teach them how to handle bullying and how to counter its negative effect on their self-esteem.
