Why is joint parenting so important?
Embracing shared parenting doesn’t just help you support and care for your partner – it has a lasting impact on your kids that inspires the next generation, too.
Our unique research shows that boys who see their fathers engaged as full partners in domestic care and work are 1.5x more likely to contribute their fair share of unpaid care in the household.*
Another study even suggests that when girls see their fathers fully engaged in joint parenting and domestic care and duties, they are more likely to work outside the home and pursue careers beyond gendered stereotypes.**
But the key to embracing shared parenting isn’t just about caring for the people you love – it’s about caring for yourself, too.
Our own study also reveals that when men embrace holistic self-care – which means caring for your mind, body and skin – they’re 2.2x more likely to feel balance in their life, 1.6x more satisfied in themselves, and 1.4x more satisfied with their partner. Men are also 44% more likely to care for others (like their little ones and partner) when they make holistic self-care a daily practice.
