It starts with one little girl
Beauty. One little word
that falls upon the ears of one little girl
and suddenly one little girl has one big problem.
But what if one big problem met with one big change?
What if we raised the self-esteem of one little girl
and then ¼ billion more?
What if beauty stopped being an ugly word,
used to discriminate, distort and disillusion
and instead became a verb? An action.
Something we redefined, realigned – and beautified?
Because if beauty believes in equality,
if beauty supports sustainability,
if our beauty isn’t forbidden,
then let’s make good on our promises.
And if beauty wants to bring joy to future generations,
then the girl can’t change to fit the world.
The world must change to fit the girl.
We believe in beauty but we can’t change it alone
and neither can she.
