Be consistent
Even when your hair doesn’t feel too dry, being consistent with your moisturizing routine will still have a big impact on its overall health and manageability. Those with smaller, tighter curls will find they need to incorporate hydration-boosting products daily, while people with looser curls will only need to moisturize a few times a week. So, in short, get to know your hair type, get yourself into a good routine and stick to it – your hair will thank you for it.
Make the most of leave-ins
If you’re not already using a leave-in conditioner, give it a try. It’s the quickest route to long-lasting moisture – and it’ll be one of the hardest working products in your routine. Dove Amplified Textures Moisture Lock Leave-In Conditioner is formulated with a nourishing blend designed to boost coils, curls and waves. Infused with jojoba oil, it moisturizes and leaves locks defined, shiny and protected against daily styling damage. You can even apply it before bedtime and allow it to penetrate deep into your strands overnight.
Be mindful of product application
Wash day is the time to reinvigorate curls and get them back to looking their best, but it’s too easy to apply excessive product and end up with an oily scalp clogged with product. Only apply conditioners and masks to the mid-lengths and ends of the hair – which is where dryness is most likely to occur. Dove Amplified Textures Moisture Spa Recovery Mask is an intensive treatment designed to strengthen locks and leave enviable shine.
Don’t use too much heat
Using a blow-dryer or diffuser too regularly will zap your hair of its much-needed moisture. If you can’t get away with letting your locks dry naturally, lower the heat setting on your tools. Holding your dryer a little further away from your head is also a simple trick for scaling back on heat exposure. And of course always apply protection first, ideally in the form of Dove Smooth & Shine Heat Protection Spray.
