What we watch has a big impact on how we feel, especially when we’re young. That’s why we’ve partnered with Cartoon Network’s award-winning show, Steven Universe to help the next generation grow up confident. From teasing and bullying to media and celebrities to competing and comparing looks, the Dove Self-Esteem Project x Steven Universe episodes cover key topics at the heart of our mission. With every watch, they’ll help young people develop the confidence they need to deal with the pressures of social media, friendships and body image.

There’s more to our bodies than how they look – but children everywhere are under pressure to meet unrealistic beauty standards. So, we’ve teamed up with Cartoon Network’s Steven Universe. Our belief that young people should feel empowered by their bodies is shared by the cartoon – which follows the magical Crystal Gems, and their half-human, half-Gem “little brother” Steven, on fantastical super powered adventures. Its core values of inclusion, diversity and empathy, make Steven Universe the perfect partner for the Dove Self-Esteem Project to take its message of body positivity directly to young people.

I created Steven Universe because I wanted the show that I never had growing up. I wanted to challenge conventional escapist fantasy stories by being as honest as possible, by having fantasy characters fascinated by small human moments and real life problems, and by reflecting my actual friends, family and self.
