How to care for damaged hair: 6 top tips

  • 1

    Choose nourishing hair treatments

It’s essential to use hair treatments and shampoos and conditioners that are specifically developed to care for dry or damaged hair. Created with our new Bio-Restore formula, a natural origin blend of amino acids, natural oils and lipids, our shampoos and conditioners are designed to repair damage and leave you with smoother, nourished hair. While some are created with moisturising ingredients to hydrate hair and smooth frizz, others have been designed to prevent breakage and split ends.

Always use hair conditioner, even if you have fine hair

Using a conditioner as part of your hair care routine can help repair damage and leave you with hydrated hair that feels healthier. Our 1 minute Protein Super Conditioner can leave you with nourished hair that feels smooth in next to no time.

Limit the heat when styling your hair

We all know heated styling tools, like hair straighteners and tongs can lead to damaged, dry hair. But that doesn’t mean you have to remove these tools from your hair care routine completely. Just try to limit their use to help prevent hair damage like breakage and split ends.

Be gentle when drying your hair

It’s true that damaged hair can be fragile, so go easy on it. If you’re using a hair dryer, try turning down the temperature a little. Be careful not to hold the hair dryer too close to your hair either – you don’t want to burn it. If you prefer air drying, pat hair gently with a towel rather than rubbing, as this can cause breakage, too. You can help protect your hair from daily damage like this with our Daily Care shampoo and conditioner or our Intensive Repair range.

Brush hair carefully to prevent breakage

You might think that brushing gives you smooth hair, but over-brushing and tugging can damage hair. To help prevent split ends and future breakage, make sure you’re combing through your hair gently, and use a wide-toothed comb if you have curly hair. This will help to detangle knots more easily.
