We’re proud to have zero manufacturing waste going to landfill. To make this happen, we work with the three ‘Rs’: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. During production, our factories make sure any waste is used as productively as possible to limit excess and get more out of less.

To help accelerate the global beauty industry’s efforts to reduce packaging waste, we’ve created refillable personal care to help transform your daily routine. Whether it’s one of our innovative refillable deodorants or reusable body wash bottles, some of our packaging can be used over and over again – so you can buy once and refill for life.
3. Recycled plastic bottles
We’re committed to investing in more sustainable plastic choices to reduce the use of virgin plastic. Enter our beautifully unique recycled plastic bottles. Whether you need a body wash, a hand sanitizer or something else, it’ll be packaged in plastic that’s lived many past lives.
4. Renewable energy
We take great care to consider the environmental impact of every action across our supply chain by using energy from renewable sources and investing in low carbon technologies wherever possible. By 2030, we’ll source 100% of the energy we use from renewable sources which provide clean, sustainable energy – like sun, wind, biomass and green hydrogen. We’re proud to be on track to meet our commitment (in 2022, 93% of our total electricity was from renewable sources). We will continue to source green energy from local markets, increase the generation of solar power from our own sites, and use low carbon technologies – such as heat pumps and biofuels – to close the gap.
5. Ways to reduce waste at home
We know life gets busy – that’s why we want to make recycling our product packaging as easy as possible. In the US we support the Closed Loop Fund, which works to ensure companies, customers, governments and recyclers all play a part in promoting a circular economy. In the UK, we significantly increased the number of local authorities who would accept cans for recycling from 67% to over 90%. And in Europe, Unilever is working with organisations such as Ceflex to develop better services to collect, sort and reprocess recyclable packaging to reduce waste.
