FAQ

Dove is certified Cruelty Free by PETA, confirming that we do not, and will not, test on animals. For over 30 years we’ve used non-animal approaches to assess the safety of our products and ingredients, and we have since December 2017 enacted a policy prohibiting any animal tests, anywhere in the world.

Palm oil is a really important issue and Unilever has been at the forefront of driving industry-wide change for more than 15 years, and we’re on track to meeting our goal of sourcing 100% physically certified palm oil by the end of 2019. We use palm oil in products such as soap, shampoo, soups and condiments.  Experts have said that the problem isn’t palm oil itself, but the irresponsible sourcing of palm oil which leads to deforestation; so we’re working towards sourcing 100% physically certified sustainable palm oil by the end of 2019.

You’ll find a list of the ingredients on each of our individual products on our website, including any derivatives of palm oil. Sustainably sourced palm oil is the answer to the problem, and we’ve been driving change in the industry for many years; now working towards 100% physically certified sustainable palm oil by the end of 2019.  If you’d like to read more about what we’ve done so far then please go to the following pages on our website:

This is disappointing for us as in normal use, the vast majority of consumers have not noticed white marks on their clothing. Dove deodorants have been developed to reduce the white marks deposited on clothing through a combination of new manufacturing techniques and new ingredients.

As in the case of most antiperspirants they may occasionally leave slight marks, but this is very rare. If, however, you have used too much of the product or you have not allowed the product to dry properly before putting on clothes you may experience some white marks. If this happens try gently rubbing in cold soapy water. Alternatively soak the item in a biological washing powder overnight, which helps dissolve the deposit, and gently wash the item.

If you are having trouble with white marks you could try the ‘Dove Invisible Dry’ option which has been specifically developed to reduce the white marks deposited on clothing.

Some of our products do contain nut oils and nut derivatives. We label all of our products, therefore if a nut ingredient is specifically added it would appear in the ingredient list (in Latin). However, we cannot guarantee that any of our products are completely nut free, as they are not made in nut free factories; it is possible that all products could contain trace levels of nuts. We advise anyone concerned about an allergy seeks advice from their Doctor regarding which products they should use.

Dove has a variety of products that cater to people with sensitive skin. Some of our products are unscented and alcohol-free, while others make use of a hypoallergenic formula which reduce the likelihood of triggering an allergic reaction. Skincare products with a high pH level strip the skin of sebum and natural oils. This could lead to inflammation and dryness. Our products are pH balanced to prevent damage to your skin.

Within our website you will find the ingredients lists for each Dove product sold.

You'll also find how our products are developed and describe the careful steps we go through to make sure that they are safe for you, your children and the environment. If we have left any questions unanswered, please get in touch with us.
