How to tweak your routine for smooth and silky hair
Getting silky hair isn’t as hard as you think – sometimes it’s as easy as a slight adjustment to your routine. Below, we reveal six little things you can do to get smooth hair.
So you want to know how to get silky hair? One of our favourite techniques is to comb a nourishing hair oil through hair from roots to ends, wrap it up in a towel and leave for as long as you have (anything from half an hour is good) before washing hair as usual. This will treat strands to the caring properties of oil for shiny hair without any greasiness left afterwards
Stick to a range.
When picking your products, try to use a shampoo and conditioner from the same range for the best soft and smooth hair results. They’re always specially crafted to work in tandem, to leave hair looking and feeling its best
One of the best secrets of how to get silky hair is a well-known one: use a leave-in product. They can help to replenish hair’s lipids, giving you the look and feel of soft, silky hair without weighing strands down
Blow drying is key when looking for a way to get silky smooth hair, and it’s all in the technique. For a high shine finish, direct the nozzle downwards from root to tip while pulling your hair over a brush strand by strand either keeping it straight or creating soft waves – it will help close and seal the cuticles down, meaning the hair’s surface is smoother and can reflect more light, for a beautifully radiant, silky hair finish
Blow drying curls.
The exception? Curly hair – curls are most shiny and defined when left to dry naturally – but if you’re short on time, using a diffuser with your dryer will soften the airflow and prevent frizz
It might not be the first stop on your hunt for silky hair, but switching up your pillowcase could help. The smooth surface of a silk pillowcase helps minimise friction for smoother, shinier looking hair in the morning
