Luyanda, Accountant
Growing up in South Africa, Luyanda longed to fit in, often changing her hair to match her friends. Yet, she soon realised she would never conform to a standard beauty mould. Since that day, she has embraced her unique self without looking back.
I have stopped trying so hard to fit in – my beautiful personality is written all over my face and that’s the only beauty I need.
Luyanda
While Luyanda’s confidence now shines brightly, this wasn’t always her reality. For years, friends with lighter skin and straighter hair pressured her into adopting an unsuitable beauty ideal.
However, once she recognised her own beautiful features, she vowed to stay true to herself. That day, she got dreadlocks and has since faced the world with unstoppable self-confidence, celebrating her natural hair.
