As a highly accomplished young woman, Jasmine balances the traditions of her Chinese culture with the beauty pressures women feel they need to meet. Traveling and working in different cultures has inspired her to support and celebrate other women’s abilities over their looks.
My mother always told me that natural was best. She wanted me to feel beautiful as I am and I’ll always be grateful to her for that advice.
Jasmine
In China, a woman’s ability is often put second to her looks, but Jasmine doesn’t agree. Splitting her time between Beijing and London, she has seen many friends chase unattainable and unrealistic beauty ideals across different cultures.
But when she founded a start-up agency with friends, she realised that society doesn’t pay enough attention to a woman’s abilities. It was then that she decided to stop pursuing beauty ideals and focus on career goals. Today, Jasmine is comfortable and confident with her looks. For her, being beautiful is just as important as being successful and confident.
