As Sheena explains, self-love isn’t just about having a high regard for yourself. It means so much more, and it’s integral to your happiness. “It is the care I’ve taken of myself when times were rough,” she says. “It is the motivation to live my best.”

Sheena isn’t afraid to say she loves herself. For her, self-love is the secret to beauty – and something that motivates her to be the very best version of herself.
When you believe that there are endless aspects to what makes you beautiful, self-love is an important habit to practise. Those rules that we’re taught encompass beauty – standard skin colours, sizes and shapes – they’re ours to break. Because there are so many other things that contribute to true beauty. Which is why according to Sheena, learning who you are, and loving yourself for it, is essential. “Self-confidence comes from knowing yourself, so focus on making your life as varied as possible.”
Now she considers her beauty to be made up of a multitude of things – her voice, her kindness, her fitness: in fact, her whole story, dress size aside. “It takes time to unlearn that conditioning and let go of these limiting beliefs, but it’s so worth it.”
