As “a major over-thinker, an insane one” Ritu has a well-established view of what beauty means to her. It comes from the unusual. Which is why she tries not to worry too much about her physical appearance. Instead she focuses on the simple things that make her feel beautiful. Helping people. Making her parents proud. Doing well at her job – all of them: Ritu has a clothing line, as well as co-running a music community, and looking after her own online platform. That hasn’t always been her attitude though. “I now wish I hadn’t beaten myself up over trivial things in the past. There is nothing more important than self-confidence, a belief in doing something good fearlessly and leaving a mark,” she says.
Ritu, Freelance Creative
A passionate traveller who explores the world with her camera, Ritu is used to finding the unique beauty in others. That’s why she says there’s nothing more important than self-confidence.
Ritu thinks society is getting better at seeing beauty in “non-stereotypical” ways. But, she says, her self-confidence allows her to appreciate taking care of her beauty too. “There are days when my skin and hair behave and I take a moment to be smug and wonder how pretty I am.”
