The basics for healthy, baby soft skin
Caring for such delicate, brand new baby skin can be scary for any new mom, and you’re probably experiencing information overload leaving you unsure of where to start.
With 50+ years of skincare expertise, we’re here to help you learn more about your baby’s skin and how to care for it. For starters, you might not realize that your baby’s skin is actually 30% thinner than yours so it loses moisture faster. That’s why we recommend products that go beyond mild cleansing and protection to provide that important extra moisture.
Try our handy tips to find a skincare routine that works for you and your baby.
Use products for baby skin.
First up, avoid using your own moisturizer and find products specifically designed for moisturizing baby skin. Our products replenish moisture in baby’s skin, leaving it soft and hydrated
Cleanse gently at bathtime.
Bath time isn’t always easy. The good news is that as frequent baths can dry out baby skin, you can occasionally skip one without feeling guilty. You can also use a mild soap like our Rich Moisture Tip to Toe Wash, which gently removes dirt while also helping to prevent moisture loss
Use pH neutral baby skin products.
Try as you might to care for your baby’s skin, it’s normal to come across dry, red patches. This irritation could be due to an imbalance in their skin’s pH levels, meaning its protective layer can’t do its job as well. To maintain the balance, all Baby Dove products are pH neutral, making them great for babies with dry skin. Our Sensitive Moisture Baby Bar is dermatologically tested, and gentler and more moisturizing than any other ordinary baby soap bar
Care for your little one’s scalp.
While your baby might not have much (or any!) hair, washing the scalp with a shampoo that goes beyond mildness, such as our Rich Moisture Baby Shampoo, replenishes essential moisture and nutrients in the scalp from the beginning and sets the foundation for a lifetime of healthy skin
Keep baby’s skin moisturised.
Once you’ve patted your baby dry, now is a good time to replenish any lost moisture. Choosing a special moisturizing cream for baby, like our Rich Moisture Baby Lotion, provides intense moisturization and keeps skin soft until their next bath
Protect baby’s bottom.
Babies spend longer in a soiled diaper at night than at any other time, leaving them more susceptible to diaper rash. Before bedtime, try slathering on a layer of Rich Moisture Diaper Cream. It helps protect your baby’s bottom from dampness so they – and you – can get some much-needed rest
